Serious Inquiries Only!!If you or someone you know have a large interest in Persepolis, you need to look at this tray that was hand
pounded (not manufactured) in Iran in the 1970’s during the Shah’s regime. It is a true beauty...shows all
kinds of symbols from Persepolis...lions, bulls heads, guards, tribute bearers, winged sphinx’s, Darius and
many more interesting, historical images.
It was crafted from a flat, thick piece of solid brass. The artist transformed it into the beautiful piece of art that
it became. The scalloped edges are 1/4” thick, the etchings are very deep. The dimensions are approximately
30”w x 42” (2 1/2’ x 3 1/2’) long and it weighs about 25 pounds....not your typical tray...very large. It displays
beautifully on a wall. It is one of a kind...very rare and precious. It is in very good condition.

The figures on this tray depict a story from Iranian history. I have been told by an Iranian artist that the images
are from Persepolis in Shiraz. Persepolis was the Palace of Cyrus and his son Darius. It was destroyed by
Alexander. Supposedly there is a story written on this tray....a story that took a very long time to write.
This tray is very rare and unique and was hand sculpted in Iran during the Shah’s regime. It was carved out of
a piece of thick solid brass. The owner was an American worker in Iran who became enthralled with the work
of this artist. He watched him every single day - hand pound (not stamp) the story that is written on this tray.
He became friendly with the artist and worked up a wonderful friendship with him, but was forced to evacuate
the country when the Shah’s regime crumbled. He purchased this work of art for a large sum and displayed it
over his mantle in his private home.
I recently had it professionally cleaned and the brass refinisher told me he has never seen such a beautiful
piece! It really must be seen to be appreciated.
