Persian Hand Painted Bowl / Paper Mache (?). Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.
Cannot tell you much about this piece but it is very pretty...It measures 11 inches in diameter and stands about 2 1/2 inches tall. Circular designs of different sizes with 2 half circles at outer part of the bowl. It is hand painted in shades of silver, gold, red, blue, green and yellow. It definitely has age but I cannot provide a date of creation with any confidence. In very nice condition. Mentioned for the sake of complete accuracy, there are two minute paint flakes on outer rim. Very small but mentioned as they are there...I believe this is paper mache as it is too light to be wood and I don’t have an idea of anything else it could be. Unusual and very nice piece.
Set of 3 ancient Indus Valley Ancient hand made pottery ca3500 BC – 2500 BC.
These ancient terra-cotta pieces have chips and nicks and are not perfectly cleaned but the artwork shows clearly.
1) Bowl with narrow bottom and straight indented sides, horizontal stripe design, chipped rim 3" x 4 1/4" at rim
2) Bowl with horizontal stripe and herringbone design
3) Small cup or glass with horizontal and vertical stripe design. Chip on rim 2 1/4"h x 2 5/8" at rim
Harappan objects, including impressive and numerous decorative objects and weapons, are found. It flourished in the basins of the Indus River, which flows through the length of Pakistan, and along a system of perennial, mostly monsoon-fed, rivers that once coursed in the vicinity of the seasonal Ghaggar-Hakra river in northwest India and eastern Pakistan.
